Caureen Breathe Pilates

Tell us a little bit about yourself, what were you doing before Pilates and how did your journey of Pilates begin?

I was traveling around the world while serving at one of the best airlines for 21 years, but I was never a fan of exercising or hitting the gym.

After clipping my wings a few years ago, I decided to take charge of my health. I was putting on so much weight and felt tired all the time. I exercised daily, doing mostly HIIT workouts without proper supervision. Poor posture and wrong weight-bearing eventually cost me. My left shoulder, hip, and knee started to hurt and eventually, I had numbness from my shoulders to my fingers and spasms in my hip joints – I couldn’t even walk properly at times.

I made the decision to stop all exercise and rehabilitate with Pilates. I’ve never turned back since and now I crave Pilates every single day.

Not only did Pilates nursed my body back to health,  but it also made me stronger, and has increased my mobility compared to my pre-injury days.

“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live in” – Joseph Pilates

How is the Breathe training program so far?

It became a dream of mine to pursue a career as an instructor to help others. The Breathe training program was intensive but provided a nurturing environment where we received great support from both classmates and instructors. The course has taught me to understand and execute each exercise using the right muscle engagement with precision –– taking my training experience another notch higher.

What can clients expect from your classes? Describe your teaching style

My class will be challenging with a lot of focus on the core and glutes.

What do you like to do outside of the studio?

Spending time with my three dogs and my husband.

What has this turbulent year of COVID-19 and lockdown taught you?

I completed Breathe’s Mat Pilates online course which is a great achievement! I was also able to practice clean-eating. The COVID-19 pandemic taught me to be prudent, and always have enough savings for rainy days 😉
