The Functional Anatomy course is part of the Comprehensive programme, and fully prepares students for that programme. Additionally, it can serve as a refresher or for anyone needing to fulfil the anatomy prerequisite for the Intensive programme. What you will learn
Anatomical position and its importance
The bones that make up the axial and appendicular skeleton
Names and locations of bony prominences and landmarks
Terms of direction and relationship and their application to movement
Types of joints and the movements available at the joints
Types of muscular contractions, including the application of force
Origin, insertion and action of muscles
Application of functional anatomy to chosen exercises and movements

A variety of exercises performed on the Cadillac Trapeze Table through the full Essential and Intermediate repertoire
To become better acquainted with the Cadillac as a tool to create complete workouts or as a complement to routines featuring Matwork and other equipment
To observe and experience a variety of exercises utilising the Cadillac’s features, including the Roll-Down Bar, Push-Thru Bar, Trapeze, Leg and Arm Springs

This six-hour course, held over one day, progresses from Matwork to more advanced material, providing further options and challenges on the mat for highly conditioned clients. Exercises require a high degree of strength, balance and coordination.

This one-day, six-hour course builds from fundamental Matwork into advanced sequences, adding options and challenges on the mat for highly conditioned clients. Exercises demand advanced strength, balance, and coordination.

The STOTT PILATES® Injuries & Special Populations (ISP) course equips you with the skills required to address a broad range of physical challenges among your clients. Completion of ISP is required for full STOTT PILATES® certification.
What you will learn:
Approaches to rehabilitating an injured musculoskeletal system
Anatomy and biomechanics, dysfunctions and pathologies, and exercise modifications in the lumbo-pelvic, cervical, upper quadrant, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, ankle and foot regions
Pregnancy, fibromyalgia and other special conditions plus workout design
Appropriate modification of Matwork, Reformer, Cadillac, Stability Chair and Barrel exercises

This lecture, developed by the Merrithew™ team, is designed for those who already have functional anatomy knowledge.
Topics include: basic biomechanics (levers, effects of gravitational force, effects of muscle force), anatomical terminology, skeletal anatomy, actions at the joints, major muscle groups and the muscles’ origin insertion and action. Select exercises from the STOTT PILATES® repertoire are also broken down and analysed in terms of the functional anatomy at play.
Participants will deepen their understanding of the human body and enhance their teaching.

Our STOTT PILATES® Teacher Training modules range from $1,475 for Functional Anatomy to $3,570 for the Intensive Cadillac, Chair & Barrels (ICCB) programme. Total course fees will depend on your selected Pilates Teacher Training pathway, modules, and delivery format.
