What is the STOTT PILATES® Method

The STOTT PILATES® method is an approach pioneered by MERRITHEW™, a global leader in Pilates education. It blends aspects of traditional Pilates with a renewed focus on exercise science and rehabilitation, creating a functional approach to movement and wellness. Some of the benefits of this Method include:

  1. Increases core strength and stability
  2. Enhances posture and alignment
  3. Boosts flexibility, balance, and coordination
  4. Improves muscular balance and strength
  5. improves muscle endurance and tone
  6. Prevents injuries and increases body awareness
  7. Improves athletic performance
  8. Reduces stress and back pain

This special focus on rehabilitation is what sets the STOTT PILATES® method apart from traditional Pilates. On top of major Pilates principles such as breathing and maintaining fluidity and balance of movement, the STOTT PILATES® method has a greater focus on postural alignment and restoration of a neutral curvature of the back through intentional and gradually progressive exercises. The Method aims to help strengthen the pelvic, ribcage, shoulder, head, and neck muscles in particular to improve everyday mobility and flexibility in practitioners.

Courses conducted at our training school in Asia over the philosophy and ethos that underscores the STOTT PILATES® method, as well as exercises that can be used to target specific movement objectives. The STOTT PILATES® method can be applied to both equipment and mat-based exercises, making it a fully customisable option for practitioners.
